Hey all missed you guys
« on: September 19, 2010, 12:33:47 PM »
sorry to have dropped off the planet for a few months all of a sudden. things have been a wreck but i am hoping finally back on track.... my poor plants are still hanging in there with me  but, here is the news...

a few months back i had moved from my house to the neighbors house across the street with the idea of cheaper rent because a room opened up. it was really great for a while, i had an awesome sunroom and everything, turned it into a half greenroom for all my hanging ferns and a scrapbook area/storage of boxes with all my photos and extra $1000s of dollars worth scrapbooking supplies... well they wanted to put a hot tub in there and i told them it leaked and not to do it in the green room because id already claimed it but lo and behold it was moved in there anyway and not only did it leak, they left the water running all night so all my boxes and photos and supplies were all soaked ruined stucked together and water logged. well about a month and a half into moving in i suddenly caught on to the fact that my roomates were heavy drug users, (didnt catch on early enough because iguess i grew up sheltered so i had no idea) but long story short i ended up having check books stolen, alot of my expensive things held ransom for a 40$ utility bill, and alot of things just flat out stolen and my packed boxes gone through and he picked what he wanted to keep and hid them around the house... so i had to get the HECK out! so from there, moved to storage and stayed in a garage, had 7 puppies including my dogs, my koi, my snake, just.. sheesh.

and then from the garage made the long haul to sandiego, so here i am, finally money for an internet bill, half my plants here and half in bakersfield, just sheesh man... and i know i have a habit of moving but holy moly i wish i did it in the winter when all my plants are sleeping! my trades will be mailed out asap!

haha meeshy nomad should be my alias but anyone know what the weather is like in oceanside ca plant wise?

Sorry to hear you had such a bad time.  Bad people live everywhere but in my opinion Bakersfield got a double dose....  You'll like north county much better.

I don't know for certain if your lilies will bloom through the winter in north county but I doubt it since mine don't and I'm not that further north of you.  However, the Oceanside/Escondido area has very mild winters which is why there are LOTS of commercial growers out there.  My favorite nursery is also located out there.  Stop by when you get time.  http://www.buenacreekgardens.com/

aww thanks for the welcome back!
oceanside is actually where i located too i was hoping soooo bad that there was a local pond place here maybe i can pick up a part time job!

bakersfield is just bad news, especially with my age group, its crazy finding out all the nuckleheaded goofies i grew up with have found themselves into heavy drugs.

so far i am liking the place, i dont know how well my plants are since we left 105 degree warm temps behind but i am LOVING the weather here... any other sd ponders?

mikey how far are you from me, checking out the site now

Welcome back and glad you made it safely to Oceanside.  The weather is the best there, like Mike said.  Now we know you are close enough to make it to our AP events  :D

That area is often called "the Banana Belt"!
You are likely frost free.
