Aren't you using the other skater like bike too?  You know, the one where you have to swing your body this way and that to move the contraption?  You have more energy than me Jerry!

Re:why Recumbents?

Why Recumbents?

The many reasons recumbent cycles are preferred over traditional uprights include the following:

· Spreading your body weight over a much larger area than on a conventional bike explains "recumbent comfort".
· A much more comfortable seat means less back, neck, shoulder, and posterior pain and none of those unnecessary trips to the urologist.
· No wrist pain from bearing your weight.
· Smaller frontal area means better aerodynamics which have allowed recumbents to set every bicycle speed record.
· The heads up position lets you enjoy the scenery instead of the grit on the road.
· In the event of an accident, there is a shorter distance to fall and the rider will fall feet first instead of head first.
· The high seat back allows you to leverage more pedal power by pushing with your back against the seat. Human power is maximized under these conditions.
· The feet up position is more physiologically efficient because the body can circulate blood more effectively, providing more oxygen to the muscles.
· They are virtually impossible to flip forward (endo).
· They attract attention.

There are a lot of people around here who ride recumbent bikes--and love them!  We have a bike trail that goes from here clear to Cincinnati (all the way to the Ohio River)!!!  What a ride that must be!!  I just ride my country roads and on the bike trail too, but not quite that far!   :)

I use a recumbent exercise bike at the "Y" ,  I have for many years. So i feel good about my abilties in that area.  The TV screen on the bikes at the "Y" make the time go fast
I have certaily lost some stamina and strenth. Beats the altrenative ::)

Looks like fun to me Jerry....
I even bought a much wider and more padded seat for my bike, but riding it still causes a lot of soreness in my "backside" :D :D :D

Those racing bike seats kill me. You are right Billy.
I went around a park lake a few times yesterday. It was fun and easy.  It is a bike and walking trail, so it is vey safe.
Now with an outrigger i can troll a lure in the lake!   What a site that would be!
It is called Lake Balboa.  One of the few things the city did right.
