question about new pond filter
« on: March 28, 2011, 09:29:53 AM »
Does anyone have this new 4 in 1 pond uv filter  if so what do you think about it?? I have the Pressuarized biological UV POnd Filter with a 330  pond pump that I'm thinking on selling to get that other one, but I will like some feedback first My pond is about 300 gallons no more than that maybe less :) I just think that is less equipment to have since my pond is not that big but I'm not sure if it will work good.

I've never had a store bought filter but, I've always been told to buy them 2 times the size they indicate...so if you have a 300 gallon pond you need a filter for a 600 gallon pond....I'm just not too keen on those all together things--what happens when the pump goes out--then your having to buy a whole new filter, pump and uv...I'd buy mine sepperatly......

Lawanna is right. I'd recommend buying the largest filter you can afford.

Keep in mind that there are other ways to filter a pond. You could also add some floating islands and the roots of the plants will help as well.

Have you thought about making yourself a "Skippy" filter?  It doesn't have to be exactly like shown, modify to fit your needs.  I've got a whiskey barrel liner with the built in spout that I've converted into a filter for my goldfish holding pond.  Even with my heavy fish load it keeps the water clear.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

My skippy is made out of a 35 gallon heavy duty trash can with a 2" shower drain for a outlet.  It is "in" my 8' tank so it has no clean out.
