Toads
« on: June 07, 2011, 09:06:44 AM »
We live in South Texas. There has been no rain until today! But two days ago I guess the toads could not wait another day and they were out in forces. My husband netted sixty of them and relocated them.  We have a Westie that cannot help herself and gets slimed in the mouth then gets ill, so my husband is obsessed with thinning them out.

It's been so dry here, I've only heard toads calling twice all year - and that was, like you say, out of desperation, because they were calling when we had not even had any rain!  No eggs, either.

Sunday it stormed in Katy, but nothing here in downtown Houston.  Yesterday, the sky darkened, wind picked up like mad, and the temperature dropped.  But only a few pointless drops actually fell.

Glad you got rain where you are, Zoe.  We need it badly up here in Houston.
