Slightly off topic. Out the kitchen window. There is a Director Moore in a planter about 6 feet away. Close enough?
Woodpecker at the feeder. The first and second photos are so close to being great shots.

Very nice pictures. We have been trying to get a picture of ours and they are gone before we can get to them. The male looks like your pictures and the female is a plain version. Ours are nesting in a tree that is hollow on top. The tree died after Hurricane Ike and left a top just right for the woodpeckers! It seems you have a love of wild life and also love to garden.

Thanks Cindy,
There was a pilated woodpecker in our pear tree the other day. Of course the camera was in side. We also had Downey woodpecker at the suet feeder. Damn coons ended that until I hang the feeder where the coons can not reach it. Life is too short to not enjoy what is given.

2Vetts, you are funny!
Thanks for the pics, Magoo. We have a woodpecker somewhere in the 'hood, whom I have never seen, but every morning he's banging away at a telephone pole near here.

after ww2 when tv antennas were becoming popular woodpeckers would sit on them and 'peck' . it really made a racket and their favorite time to do it was 6:30 or 7 in the morning . not many antennas left in the cities any more .
