Storm damage
« on: May 27, 2011, 01:47:26 AM »
We have had heavy storms this past 24 hours. The result has been catastrophic for the garden, and I see a lot of work ahead. Considering that the turf bridge over to the island collapsed last month and has still to be replaced, I can't see all of these problems being corrected this year.

Ah well ... maybe I will just throw a party and swig some fine wines :)

The last pic here shows the Australian cordylines which were killed by last winter's severe weather (minus 20+ Centigrade in places)

You do have a lot of work ahead.  We had severe storms a couple days ago, but they missed us.

A dead tree drives me nuts until it is cut down.  We live surrounded by woods, so it seems we always have some needing to be cut.  I love your dead trees, they look like art.

With all the wacky weather and devastating storms in the States I never even thought of what goes on across the big pond.  I'm sorry to see all the wreckage in your beautiful garden.  The winds had to have been very strong to tear down all your workmanship of the gates and structures you show in your photos.  I'm thinking the party and wine is perfect at this time!

Had a friend have the tornado take everything she owns, left the house foundation.

I have been able to remove the fallen tree and cut it up for firewood.  I also dismantled the gate and have it stored in the garage awaiting a decision on how to best effect a repair.  The fallen pergola is now wood ash having been burned on the bonfire.
Add to this two hours cutting grass, two hours cutting back an overgrown hedge, and one hour drinking a few Buds :)
My arms are killing me .......
