Pilated in a Pear Tree
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:10:31 PM »
The #!!*) pear tree that makes a mess in a small pond had some visitors this afternoon.

There were two feeding in the tree but I only photographed one.

Aww, what a cute little guy.  Hey, I think he's poking holes in your pears!  Thanks for sharing...I don't see many of those woodpeckers even though they are here....somewhere!

Great pictures.  I have walked thru many of woods  in southwestern Michigan in search of a Pilated woodpecker but have never seen one myself.  What an experience you had.

I am soooo jealous! Like Kirby, I have spent much time hiking in Mi looking for them. I HEAR them, but I can't find them.

Great pictures.  We have three of them that stay right around our house in the winters.  It's hard to get pictures.........they scare really easy.  I sure didn't know they ate pears!
