The place was called "The 500 Club" in Atlantic City.
They got a new act that was a sensation. Dean & Jerry They kept the place filled every night.
If you watch "Boardwalk Empire" on HBO. You know that the whole town was mob run. On TV they call the main guy Enoch (Nucky) Thompson. he was " Enoch "Nucky" Johnson!"
All were big tippers!
I found this on the net. See Dean at the right?

Look how tall that Black guy is. I'm not sure when pro-basketball started but he sure would have been my choice for center...

NBA was just about to begin. One of the first teams was the Philadelphia Warriors. Now called "Golden State" It was owned by an Eddie Gottleib. How did I remeber that?
There were no black guys on the team. There was the NBAs first big scorer. A Joe Fuchs from Murray State Teachers College. As kids we made great bad jokes about his name!

LOL Wish I was young enough to not know why they hired the tall guy. When the place was packed with people it allways helped to have the tallest guy working for you! I was passed over for a guy like that as a youngster looking for a part time job.

Bouncers, if that's what he was, are not small guys. I would remember him if i'd ever seen him.
I sure recall Martin & Lewis. We were packed every night. They were the talk of the town.
