I'll bet your kicking yourself (with your good leg) for not doing so sooner.
Years ago, I got a bad knee injury playing soccer. My PC physician was thisclose to scheduling me for surgery and I said I wanted a second opinion. One of his partners came in and said, "you need surgery" without ever looking at my knee, just said what my doc told him to say. I left and went to see my chiropractor, who was also a sports med doc, and he massaged my knee to get my leg straightened out, then wrapped me in an ace bandage and gave me instructions and crutches. I followed his advice, and 8 weeks later I was playing soccer again and that was 20+ years ago and I've not had any major knee injury since.
I realize we all want the 'good answer', but sometimes we actually do deserve it and the doctor just doesn't know it.
Hope all is well with your leg.
