Good news.
« on: January 22, 2007, 06:23:38 PM »
My dad had his final examination Friday and was cleared to go to Florida. They left Sunday morning and called from Indiananpolis tonight. Naomi, his wife, my stepmom, is doing all the driving as he is not allowed to drive.

Bowling Green, Kentucky, Monday night.

Tuesday night, Macon Georgia.

Hope they have a nice (and quiet and uneventful) trip and enjoy themselves when they get there.

Daddy has wintered at a Baptist retirement village outside of Sebring for about 27 years but he and Naomi have only been married two years last November. He was heavily involved there with the village maintenance team doing whatever needed to be done just like what he was doing at the camp here in Michigan when he was injured. Now he will be restricted from using any motorized equipment or power tools. That will be hard for him to accept. I talked last night to the head of the maintenance team and made sure he understood the restrictions. He said they will be careful to keep an eye on him, yet find work he will be capable of doing. When he is able to get his driver's license back, then I feel he should be able to resume any work he has done in the past. You'd think an 85 almost 86 year old guy would want to slow down but, no not him.

Right now I would imagine that the village is abuzz with the word that they are coming back and talk of what happened to him. And I can imagine the lineup at the door as soon as people realize he has arrived. He will be like a king returning from battle. He will love every minute of it.
