Calling all Koi experts.
« on: July 21, 2012, 03:01:43 PM »
I have had a Koi for about 4-5 years who has never spawned to my knowledge and until this summer I didn't know if it was a male or female. SHE is now HUGE and I assume the lower belly swelling is from eggs. But she just gets bigger and bigger and I keep looking to see if she is still alive. We have just one other Koi who is that size but again I have no idea if it is a male or female. What if there is no male to "do the job"? I have seen other smaller Koi and the goldfish doing the chase but they leave Tiger alone.

Either she is preggers which she will be fine when she expels the eggs or she has a problem like pine-cone disease.  Hope it's the first one.  Good luck.
