trying to catch 2" Fry - Help!
« on: March 05, 2015, 07:33:27 AM »
I have tried chasing with a net, bait and  scoop, and now a minnow trap. What is the best bait to use in the minnow trap for 2" Shubunkin fry?

I've used a slice of bread in a plastic mesh bag, tied so it floats in the middle of the trap - away from the sides.

It's good to not feed the fish for a day or two before doing this so they will be more likely to go in the trap for food.

Welcome rthib.

I have good results using my DD who has 20/20 vision and good reflexes.  She is much faster than I am using a net.

Also, if you can remove any hiding places from the pond it helps when trying to net.  I usually try to lower the water level as much as possible also.
