Show Us Your Container Ponds!
« on: February 19, 2007, 09:17:58 AM »
I see so many cool container ponds, barrels, stock tanks etc. throughout the forum and thought it would be nice to see them all together in one thread. I know some people have used some very clever containers for ponds.......

Here are a couple of old pics of one of my barrels, two different years

I think I will try a container garden this year,  question, does any one have problems with mosquitos with them.  I have a whiskey barrell planter by an old no longer working pump, thought I might even run a small hose through the pump and trickle water out.  This is what it looks like now in the dead of winter, sure if I line it, it would work good for a container garden.

We use either a couple of fish or Mosquito Dunks to kill mosquitoes.

These photos are great inspirations, especially for people new to ponding. I started with a barrel pond to "test the waters", so to speak. Here are some old photos of my container ponds:

Here's my biggest "container" pond so far:

And I'm hoping to build a bigger one this spring to showcase my tropical waterlilies. Anyone have a spare 8 foot stock tank or sugar kettle lying around?

OMGosh those are beautiful!  It gets so hot here on our deck, I'm afraid any little fish would cook in a container garden, even with a lot of plants.  Our silly dogs would drink out of it, too.
