Pond Vacuum
« on: July 13, 2015, 09:36:31 AM »
I can see there is much discussion about pond vacuums and I apologize if this is a repeat. I'm looking for a vacuum to clean the rocks but also empties back into the pond. It's my understanding I will loose beneficial bacteria if I lose too much water and have to put in fresh water. I realize there would need to be a filter system to keep debris from going back into the pond. I'm open to suggestions. I am a DIY person however am not opposed to purchasing a well made product. Thank you.

yes sir , we have an oase [i think] which does about what you are asking . it  runs the residue from pond into a bag which does let some VERY fine particulates back into pond and traps bigger particles which then need to be emptied from bag . i find i rarely use ours because 1] cleaning it up and putting it away annoys me 2] we have net over pond because of herons and it is a pain to remove/replace . no complaints about the vacuum itself . . . peace

MY experience has been that rthere is plenty of bacteria. I have totally emptied my 100 gallon Skippy, save nothing and NEVER a problem!  There must be plenty of the good stuff in the pond. I had Pond vac by OASE  never used it. Tried to sell it here, but no luck.  I sold it 2 months ago at a koi club meeting .
If Ineed the pond vacuumed, I call a guy!
