Visit to Turtle Island and Mike Giles
«

A little over a week ago I was fortunate enough to be able to go and visit Mike (TMike) and see his wonderful lily creations. Mike had been experiencing a drought recently which has cause him to have low water levels. He has had to relocate many lilies and also try and bring in some additional water. He has mainly kept the mud wet enough to keep from losing some lily seedlings. Here are some pics.

Can you believe that almost everyone of the lilies you see are a new variety? Here is Mike and some of his his lilies in posts to follow!

The pics aren't great because of the sun and it was mid afternoon when the plants were closing, but you can get an idea as to the variety and colors.

Mike chooses which plants to watch once they bloom, and puts a stick next to the plant. Look at all of the sticks in the pics!

Still more to come. These pics, including the last previous ones, were of plants along the shoreline. When Mike selects a lily for more consideration and to grow it out, he plants it along the shoreline.

As you could see in that last pic of the last post, some plants are growing in nothing but mud right now.

Where is he located?
You have to sign in to Google for your video to work.

Okay. That is my first video to put on you tube. Were you able to see it? When I click on it it goes right to the video.
Mike lives in WV, about a 6 hour drive one way from me.
Here are some pics of two of the H X T lilies that I got from Mike while I was there. The pic of Tropic Star by itself was when it was not fully open.
