Full grown Lotus Plant
« on: July 09, 2016, 11:54:49 AM »
Bought a full grown Lotus plant. In my 15 years of water gardening, I've never had any success with the incredible Lotus plant. I've bought multiple roots but all rotted.
This time however while on vacation here in Boca Raton Florida I found this beautiful full grown plant. Now to bring home on the plane......

Lol,  already home in Brooklyn!  My wife bought a sturdy shopping bag from Target and took it on board as my personal carry on. TSA did pull it over to inspect it for bomb residue then promptly handed it back to me and got it home in 3 hours and into the pond!  Its doing well.
Thanks for asking!

Do you know the name of the lotus, or the growth pattern as to its size? Great they let you bring it home on the plane as a carry on. Congratulations!

Unfortunately, the garden center that I bought the Lotus from did not have any identifying information. I do plan to change the pot later this week to a much larger pot.

Thanks for following.

The Lotus did well this summer, I cut the stems down and sank it to the bottom of the pond ~ 3'

Today was the first day ice formed on the pond water :(

This past week I completely shut down all functions in the pond then added an ICE heater.
