Not enough what?
« on: June 09, 2007, 06:07:35 PM »
My fish are atop the water gasping for air it's 87 right now @ 9 pm and got up to 102 today. There is a fish mate UV Bio Filter running on a Beckett 900 and also a Pond master 950 running the skimmer and diverting into the pond. Pond is 8x6 less than 700 gallons. There are 10 fish in there comets/sarassa's.

Do you have a fountain attachment by chance? If not a few minutes of the spray of a hose should bring the temp down slowly and introduce some additional oxygen and you won't need to add declor either.

No DH took the pump off the fountain and ran it to the skimmer diverting it into the pond. I will go out and run the hose in it only problem is that water is warm on nights like tonight. Thanks enzo.

They want O2!!  Warmer water hold less oxygen than does cold water.

Get an airstone in there or some kind of bubbler to get more O2 in the water.

I've heard of using a spray bar... What i've seen is basically a piece of pvc pipe capped on one end with holes drilled in it.  Hook it up to a pump or T off an existing pump line and set it where it shoots the water into the pond.

Or take your hose nozzle and put it on a very fine spray. Spray it all over the surface (don't turn off). Not the best for water lilies, but works great in a pinch for O2 deprived fish!

PS/edit- learned that one from Joyce.  O0

Wish I had some sound advice Jen. I struggle to get my water over 70 degrees usually.

Good luck to you.

I stayed up until 11:00 and checked on them it got down to 75 so they made it. They will be leaving tomorrow because I do not have a proper pond for fish and I can't be that cruel to anything. They are going back to the pond they came from. Thanks for the help cause it broke my heart to see them that hot.
