Potted up the new lotuses today...FINALLY!!!
« on: March 25, 2007, 06:57:30 PM »
Here are the new barrels, North and South are New Bowl Lotus.
The middle barrel will be mini hardy water lilys.
This is one of the two backup/parking areas in our driveway.

The purpose of the middle barrel is to keep people from snapping off one of the elevated inground sprinkler heads in that garden. It gets snapped off at least once a season by people parking there. In fact it was snapped off again last week, waiting to be repaired again.  >:(

Closeup of North Barrel...pretty ugly!

Closeup of South Barrel...uglier!!!

And another lotus I got from John Johns...in the back yard near the pondsai.

Did I mention my new patio set? ;)

Some lithodora I potted up today, found at HD when we were buying the little teflon feet for the patio set.

And I trimmed a pretty big branch off the Japanese Maple by the Pondsai today, couldn't bear to toss it in the composter, so I made it my dining room centerpiece. Used some leftover lotus potting gravel in the vase for stability.
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Joyce, the barrels are a great idea to keep the cars in line! O0

The lithodora - what is it's common name? I have bought something very similar - can't recall the name, I seem to be suffering from CRS lately - as an annual for window boxes and it hates me, looks great for about 3 weeks, sulks, maybe reblooms a little, then curls up and dies when summer comes. >:(

Joyce they look wonderful. I love Lithodora, and I love that planter you have it in. I keep planting it but it just doesen't do well here. It gets so harshly froze back each year. I put some on the so. bank of the pond last year but I haven't gone and taken all the leaves off it yet to inspect it. It was 24 this am so I think I'll wait a bit to uncover it. But I do love it. You must be pretty bussy every spring and fall just putting your planters in and out? wish I had power to my green house so I would have a safe place to store more of them. I figured if I ever get the little baby doll I could just put the pot down in the pond for fall and winter. That would work would"t it?
I'm just happier outside!

Love the look, they will look really good along the drive like that.  I like those little blue flowers, I'm gonna have to check into those.

My poor lotuses are still in a bucket of water in the garage. I've been wanting to plant them soooo bad since it's been 80 here for a couple of days.  I got the barrel and other pots ready.  Just looked at the 10 day forecast and it's supposed to go back to low 50's next week. >:(- >:(- >:(-
I'll see what the weather does after that cold spell.  How long can I float them in water? One of them has been in the garage for at least 3 weeks now. I change the water often.

I did today, couldn't watch them float in the bucket anymore.    :'(

I feel better now ;D ;D ;D

One is in a half barrel on the deck and the other in a pretty large ceramic pot next to the pond.
I love spring!  The only problem is that my house is a mess, I've been outside after work until it gets dark.  I have two small children, and they know when mommy is busy.... ::) ::) ::)

Love your centerpiece o(:-) You are indeed, very creative.

My tub is sitting out front waiting for me to decide what I'm going to put in it this year.
I did save some of the marginals from last year, inside.
