I need help with lily pad fungus

I appear to have some kind of fungus or blight on my lily pads.  I am new to this water gardening and I don't want something taking over my whole pond.  It starts out with yellow dots that turn brown, then to black that spread then a hole appears to "eat" right through the leaf.  There can be numerous spots on one leaf or just one area that turns into a large gaping hole.  I have pulled the leafs out and inspected everything about them and find no signs of bugs.  All my other plants are healthy, lettuce, hyacinth, marginal plants etc.  The water is crystal clear, the filter is clean and the goldfish in the pond are healthy.  I have only had two lily blooms so far this season but the flowers were perfect.  This "rotting" of my lily pads just started this past week.  Could someone please tell me what is happening, what I should do so it doesn't spread to any other plants.  The weather here is hot and humid, around 90 and I am telling you this in case it might be weather related.  Thanks for any help with this.

Curious if your pads are getting splashed from a waterfall, etc?

Fungus is a reaction due to humidity, too much rain, and pads staying wet on top.

I always have some pads that get the yellow spots almost looks like polka dots on them.  They have never went to the black and the holes though.  .  I always thought mine was from where I water plants up on the bank and the water from the hose sprinkles on the lilies.

Thank you for the replies to my lily pad problem.  The pads in question are not in the direct line of the waterfalls to my pond.  Actually the ones right under the falls are perfect.  Also, I have a second type of lily in this pond where the leaf is a dark green varigated with maroon and it is not effected as the other.  I noticed this morning that I have many more beginning to develop these black holes that just eat away at the pad.  I continue to pull them out of the water and compost them in case it is some kind of fungus but I am at a loss.  All other plants appear healthy.  I would love to send you a picture of my pond and the problem, I am just still trying to figure out your site and find where all these different things can be done on here so I appreciate your patience.  Any further suggestions would be helpful and I'll try any suggestions.  I don't want my pond to get all "gobbled" up by some kind of black creeping crud.  THanks.   Jax :'(

I have a few pads like you describe but in my case I know its because I have a sprinkler fountain that causes the older leaves to go spotty black/yellow.

Fungus on waterlilies is very common. Remove the affected pads. Try to get as much of the stem as possible.

There is nothing to do for it but remove the pads and reduce splashing if that is a problem.

i have water sprinkling on my pads all the time from my scarecrow and don't see what you are describing until the pad is old and dying. at that point it should be removed from the plant anyway. pads are like flowers in that they don't last forever or even the whole season like some plant leaves do. when they start to yellow, pinch them back as close to the growing tip as possible. let the lily spend its energy on the next pads and buds.
