Nor-Easters...Blown away mailbox...

Flowers and Sprouts...

Got this for $30 last weekend at the 'Yard Sale' at my favorite Garden Center ...
weighs about a half ton, solid, not hollow.

Staghorn Fern was put out to get soaked in the monsoons.

Peace to all  ... Joyce

Glad to hear your ok, and hope that's the worst of you damage. I haven't heard from my son or doughter in law, there over in Astoria so I asume there ok and there place or car didn't float away. I can't belive you can have such nice plants out already? Looks like some lobellia but not sure what the pink ones are? That is one nice looking Stag Horn!
I'm just happier outside!

Joyce, I was wondering how you were doing in the monsoons! Glad you're OK.

I was working in downtown Baltimore yesterday. Gravel and rain was blowing into my face when I walked down the sidewalk. At one point, a big metal construction sign was blowing across the road, luckily away from my van. We had gusts of up to 60 mph in Westminster, MD where I live. It reminded me of Hurricane Isabel.

It's always nice to see things starting to bloom. I have been thinking of getting a staghorn fern this year and hanging it on the pine tree for the summer.
I think that the spirits are telling you to dump the "plastic" mailbox and get one that would more fit in with your beautiful yard. ;)
But I'm glad that is the worst of your wind damage.

Yup, that's the extent of our damage.
The eye of the storm passed over us late yesterday afternoon...but now it's gusty and blustery again.
More branches down overnight, but nothing as bad as the night before.
Reminded me of a hurricane too.

Steve, you are right.
I have hated that mailbox ever since hubby brought it home.
I think you just gave me an idea.  {:-P;;

I'm glad you didn't get worse.  A lot of people got it really bad around here, there is a nearby dam, and houses below it were ripped from their foundations.  And your plants look great, your hellabore is way beyond what mine looks like now.

I went to pick M up from school and the winds today blew a huge tree across the road I usually take to the school.  The trunk on this thing was at least 3' in diameter where it went across the road.  You are very lucky that you only lost the mailbox . . . .

what is the sweet little white flower in the 8th pic?

Teresa, that is Bloodroot, aka Sanguinaria canadensis. It's a tiny little native wildflower, only 4-6" tall. :)
We have big trees down all over here.
Good thing is, every one I saw did not fall on anyone or anything, except for blocking roads.
And most were rotted inside, so they were doomed anyway. :(

I saw on the way home yesterday in a town called 'Middle Island', many homes underwater, especially around the Swan Lake area. Was scarey and sad. The water was up to the road (Route 25) on either side, like a causeway.

Haha Sheila...Maybe! ;)

Steve, thought I'd have energy to go mailbox shopping yesterday after pre-op testing, but I didn't. :P
Stopped by a place in Middle Island to meet another forum friend for the 1st time, and ended up meeting 2 guys from Koiphen, both who work at the same place: Reliable Fence and Garden. They have a lot of pond stuff there too, and I bought 3 new shubunkins, including 2 golden yellow spotted with black.
Nice guys, and one likes to surf cast...so he may be coming out this way soon with his surfcasting rod! :)
Peace to all  ... Joyce

Ok - Mom has always had bloodroot in her gardens . . . pretty little flower.

I hate to see houses flooded because you just know that they've lost everything . . . . We had lots of big branches down in the wind we had here, but no trees in our yard.  And the ones in the neighbors' yards that went down missed ours.
