Wow - There has been some major work on the big pond. Total transformation. Little pond just as inviting as I remember it. Two ponds, both better than most of our single ones.

You are moving, why?

Oh Wow! Maryvonnne, you and Peter have done a ton of work on both the ponds and it looks like the backyard! I just love the rock edging and your new falls/stream! I might just have to talk DH into a small road trip. It's only 4.5 hours down afterall! Too bad so much is going on up here :( Just beautiful!

We enjoyed your visit Ken and your photos are great. Thanks every one. The weather has been so hot and dry this year, still no rain in sight, and the growth on the pond plants has been incredible. The lilies have been happy although they aren't getting enough fertilizer for them to really thrive. The ponds look a bit ratty there I'm afraid. I was busy dead heading before Ken arrived and finally got it done a couple days later.
Peter has done a lot since he quit his day job. It's great having him around. So many jobs like the pond had been on hold as his job got more and more demanding. We are finally getting caught up on them. I need to plant the falls area but don't know what would do well in full sun.
Hope you get to drop in again Ken.

Your welcome any time Teresa. Since our two oldest kids have moved out the whole upstairs is now quest accomodations. It has a very nice view of Mount Baker in Washington and of course a view of the gardens. Just give me enough time to tidy up!

Thanks Jim,
The dogs haven't been over for a while but I understand one of them went for a swim in your pond. We have a new pup that sneaks in every time I turn my back. I'm not impressed.

Thanks Mike,
The ponds are very nice and a joy to work in but the rest of the garden is just too much to manage now.
It's hard to imagine selling this place and moving on but we just can't continue to live with the traffic congestion and the busy city pace. The house is too big now that the two oldest have moved out. Starting over won't be easy but hopefully it will be worth the effort. We already have a lake on the new property to start off.

So lush..love the ferns!  o(:-)

Thanks Kay,

We didn't plant the ferns. There must have been some spores on the rocks Pete brought up from the fields at the edge of the forest. I have removed a lot of them, but kept a few that were in the right place.

Thanks Kristen,

The gardens are badly overgrown right but with the busy summer we've had there hasn't been time to prune etc. It's also been too hot most days to do much outside. I quess we will have to get on it soon though.

Hi MAyvonne:

I agree with Mike...what a transfromation in the last year!  Your large pond is lookin good O0  I seem to remember you said you were moving to one of the islands is that still the case?

Good luck in the move, however, I never got the impression you were in the "crowded city", but its all relative!

Cheers.
