Here is an ineresting plant called the Century Cactus.  as the name implies it blooms once in 100 years and then the plant dies.  I saw one in Longwood in 1997 and the replacement is now blooming 10 years later.  It's cool that they took out a pane of glass to let it grow out.  You can see the crown from the Water lily area...I can't wait until it blooms!

The orchid room is amazing. I love orchids but can't seem to keep them alive for very long. Very nice photos.

I visited there three years ago, and the orchids are just breathtaking.  I've grown orchids for most of my life, and I had quite a "talk" with mine when I got home!  I was in PA for only five days, and was at Longwood's three times...

Sean:

It really is sensory overload...I prefer single flower shots, but as you can see what do you choose!  Even our Orchid house didn't have the variety, but its close to the bloom power especially in our old Vanda house!

Maryvonne try some jewel orchids...they are virtually industructable and have interesting leaf varigation.  Put in sphagum and keep it moist with 6 hours light and you will not be able to kill it.
