The scene was an older couple at a cemetery.  My last gig was at graveside. is this a trend? ::)

The "wife" I was to read with was not there, instead a young lovely girl.  She sat across a conference table. It was all i could do to hear her. The character was deaf too.
The "bits" I practiced could not be done, as she was to far away to do them. Like holding her hand and comforting her.
Usually there are all young and handsome actors at these things, this time it was "Geezerville!"
Lots of them too.  Most were dressed badly.  Sure an audition is casual, but these guys looked downright crummy!  Several looked good.  How did they do?  No idea, you don't get to see the competition.   if I get it great, if not, thats how it goes, but i will never know how good or bad these guys were.  if they stunk, what does that make me? :'(

LOL, are you sure you like this business, Jerry?  It sounds stressful to me.  ;)

But then, don't pay any attention to me...a lot of things are stressful to me.   lol

I hope you get the part.  Good Luck!!!

Jerry, from what I have read here, I'll bet you did just fine! I am a full believer in competition brings the best out in people, even if the competition is not what you expected. I have been around the "business" for over 17 years, I can say the best part was always meeting new people, all from different walks of life. Some of the most interesting people were either on the crew, or some of the extras. Good luck, and I hope you get the part!

It has been exactly as you said Greg.  I even made a few friends .
Sandye, it would be stressful if I had to pay rent  and put food on the table. I don't, so little pressure.  Only my own pressure of wanting to do it well.
The rejection is not the same as would be for a young actor.  It has to be crushing and devastating to them.
I like the idea of competing.  Looks like i was wrong Thnking  there would be few old guys to compete with.  there seems to be plenty.  They were doing the auditions all day, so i only saw 12 or so.

Oh yeah, I must add that the role I did have a few weeks ago I got a decent check for, but now learned my lines will be dubbed in Japanese!!  The film is for the Japan market.  I had no idea even though the crew were all Japanese.  I would have done it anyway!  Sayonara

Spent 12 hours at a giant basketball game!  The film is "Ball don't Lie" starring Sharon Stone.  Nope never saw her, but did have fun.  Nope, no speaking, :'( but a lot of yelling.

I was wondering how long it would take before they got wise to putting you too close to a "young lovely girl" your "bits".   :o  ;)

Mike the "bits" were things called for in the script.  They do not appreciate one taking libeties.
if the writer is there, he will be very annoyed.

Barb, It is fun.  Wanna know how close I was to Sharon Stone?  about 300 yards LOL @O@ @O@
Never saw her.
I did make friends with a neat guy. we payed "Horse" between takes, and got along great.
As he was leaving a light went off in my head.
I said "Hey, were you Keith" in "Six Feet Under?"  His eyes lit up and he almost hugged me. he was super in that show.  He played a gay cop.  {-) We all love recognition!

It does sound you're having fun!   @O@

I guess you're right, the auditions wouldn't be too stressful if you're not relying on the jobs to put food on the table and pay rent.  You can just consider it another of your fun hobbies!   ;D

Continue to keep us updated.  I don't know any other movie stars.   o(:-)

I watched Six Feet Under until I could no longer afford HBO. Quirky but good.

We had out of state visitors for the last episode LeeAnne.  We apologized and said, "we must watch this'"

Without knowing what went before, they loved it.  The last show was well done!
