Is Pressure-Treated Wood OK Under Ground??
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:53:13 PM »

I've figured out that I can solve my leaking bog filter problem by simply raising the rear end.

I was thinking of using a pressure-treated 2"x4" to put under that end of the bog, and then some 1"x2"s to even it out to where it will then meet its original depth.  There will be the liner and the 3/8" gravel of the bog filter on top of that.

So, the 2"x4" and the 1"x2"s will be between the ground and the rubber liner, raising the rear end in something like a " < " formation.

Do you think that will be OK underground?  Or will it rot?

I do have about 70lbs 5/8" gravel that I could use to raise the rear end of the bog filter, instead.

Which do you think would be better - pressure-treated lumber or gravel?

thanks for your input.

It will eventually rot but it will take a long time. Years. The pressure treatment makes it last longer than other woods outdoors.
