I'm told by many that the butterfly bush (Buddleia) is extremely easy to grow. I see them everywhere and some seem to thrive on neglect. Perhaps I gave them too much attention but every single one I have planted, some 3-4 plants, has died after a couple of years. Additionally, I have purchased and planted the Gloriosa lily a few times and it has been a no-show.... I think of myself as an above average gardener but these two plants have always humbled me.....
Well apparently some seeds from a long-dead Buddleia found their way into a clay pot about three years ago and started growing. The darn thing seems to be thriving in the pot. A magic pot perhaps?..... So a couple of years ago I also tossed in a Gloriosa lily bulb. Some green came up last year but nothing more. This year it's actually flowering for me. Indeed, I think I do have a magic pot!
