Shubunkin
« on: June 18, 2007, 11:40:03 AM »
I bought a couple of these on Saturday and when I put them in the water the white parts of them turned dark. They actually changed colors while I was floating them in the pond still in the container from the store. Is this common or maybe something in my water? I have a Koi and rosy reds still living. Something got two of my Koi.

Thanks.

I've looked into Shubs because of Reedman's beautiful midnights.  Can't find or afford the midnight variety so I just bought 5 little calico long tail shubs.  I quarantined them for 14 days introducing to the ponds koi infested water and just released them yesterday.  So far no change in color.  But I have to say that the fish in glass aquarium look lots brighter than when they are released into dark bottom pond with algea water.

How dark did yours turn?  Maybe it is the reflection of a dark pond  8)

they're like a dark navy. I held them away from the pond in the baggie they came in and they still looked dark. I was surprised - thought maybe I'd left them in the bag too long.

Thanks for your response.
