Unusual "upside down" lotus pictures.....
« on: June 28, 2007, 06:33:03 AM »
Guess this thing is so heavy it cant hold itself up.. Is like a giant peony, bigger than a softballl .   hmm a lotus you have to stake??  Have to get down on the ground to see up into the flower :)

Yup, big and beautiful!  Is it Perry Slocum?  That's the first Lotus that ever bloomed for me, then I became addicted to them.

KY Kim.. I am not sure what it is.  I have posted a few times for someone to ID and noone does lol  guess that means nobody knows :)

I got it from Johns... its the monster leaves.  The pedals are not at all like the lotus that bloomed for moe last year.. this is exactlly like a peony flowers.. tons and tons of pedals.  It starts out very pink and lightens to white on the last day.  I thought it might be Perry slocum but I dont think the pedals are what they should be for that????

MCP.. no this is the bog/pond I put right next to the big pond.  The pond the tree is on is back further and a preformed a guy gave me this year.  which by the way is stil burried under the limb :)

Gorgeous lotus bloom. I'm envious. We have three seedlings that are doing well and I hope they will bloom next year.

Beautiful!  I'd say it's Mrs. Perry D. Slocum. Looks just like mine and your description of the changing color just fits. I have quite a few of them and mine are also bending down with the weight of the blossom for the first time ever.  Isn't that odd that we both are seeing that this year?  I admire your perfect leaves. Unfortunately mine endured nasty 50 mile-an-hour winds a few weeks ago for two days and the leaves are very tattered, but they are blooming nicely in spite of it all. Thanks for posting the pretty pictures!
