Turning pond into bog?
« on: May 19, 2008, 11:13:06 AM »
As some of you might remember, I have a pond that I'm not very happy with. It's very small and we are going to be building a new pond so we were trying to decide what to do with the old one, rather than have two ponds I've come up with the idea to turn it into a bog.  Right now it's about 6 feet across with a 12" ledge all the way around and that drops straight down into a 3' x 3' well (hence the reason I hate it).  I'm thinking I could fill the part that is deep up with dirt and then pull the liner up so that it's 12" deep all the way across.  Would that work?

I've got a bio filter made out of a wine barrel on it now, could I keep the same filter on it?

TIA!

I would use it for that, but it's too deep and narrow to facilitate getting the lillies in and out of, and it has no skimmer and so it just makes a big mess.   I figure I'll do lilies in my other pond and do other bog type plants in this one. Plus, having one pond to keep a baby out of will be difficult enough!
