I'm not Esther but I have done many a sprinklers of pvc.  1st read glue direction.  Unless it says otherwise you need to wait 24hrs.  There are some glues that set up right away but they cost $$.

That's my 2 cents  ;)

Even glues that set right away need to cure 24 hours.

Pete wants to know, "Is it under pressure or drainage?" He being the master plumber, kind of laughed and said that the manufacturer would say 24 hours. So I press and say, "Well what would you do?" He kind of hesitated and said,  "Well, it depends on when the job gets done."  I laugh and press some more. He says, "Well maybe an hour if you need a time." So I say, "If you can't pull it apart with your hands, then I would guess that water could run through it." He says, "You got it."

There is blue glue that is to use in wet applications too. I got some at an Ace Hardware. He never saw it before I bought it.

Hi Jen, We all depend on the irragation here for our furit trees and crops so we have to do a LOT of pvc pipe mending. I can't recall the name right off but can get it for ya after work today if you like. Any ways it's a 2 step gluing. first you rub on this runny purpel liquid as a prep to both sides, then this thick purpel gule. you ram them together quickly as it sets pretty fast, and we all have our water back on within minuts. It's wonderful stuff and you can never undue it!
I'm just happier outside!
