I also added a very small "waterfall" in another area where the water was standing (and stinking).  This took some doing and redoing because I had to wrap a slate rock with liner and then make sure it didn't leak out the back, which is under the edge of the deck.  First time I did it there was a small stream, then I fixed it yesterday and it seems to be doing okay.
