Male vs. Female
« on: July 14, 2007, 08:02:12 AM »
Just for fun - to show in pictures, - what the difference "is" (or can be) when a man makes a pond his way, and a woman makes one her way..

Notice the borders, the use of rocks, the sizes, the Koi pond vs watergarden, the high rocky walls vs the soft grassy borders, the harsh "powerful" settings vs the cozy "soft" settings .. ok, judge for yourselfs :)

A "male" version (a 15.000 USgallon pond)

A "female" version (a 15.000 US gallon pond)

The first one is build by a man here in my neighbourhood - he is  the type who would wear his hunting Rifle for dinner ..

The second one is build by a woman in Britain - it's our Kaz in England.

Just to try to explain what I mean LOL

Of course I'm not making a statement that ALL men think alike and ALL women think alike .. God forbid,

I know which one I prefer  ;)  and I THOUGHT I recognized those pics as our very own Kaz!

I think I should have been more specific .. you see, I have nothing against rocks .. I actually love them and have included rocks in my own pond and waterfall.

My point with this thread is - the esthetic view - regardless of the use of rocks or no rocks.

The "overall" view of a pond / water feature / Koi pond / watergarden etc.

I think that generally (not always) there is a difference in the point of view between males and females.

I'm just "throwing in a torch" so to speak, am interested in hearing your thoughts on this - I'm definitely not making statements at all, such as that women make prettier ponds / males make prettier ponds - it's always a personal choice ;)

Good one  :D ;)  I like stone/rocks but the black round lava like rocks are not amongst my favorites.  But Kaz has one smooth relaxing vista setting.  I vote one for Kaz's pond.  @O@

Kaz did a more pleasing pond for sure, but rocks used well can give a very natural look.
Don't tell your friend with the rifle, but I bet I saw him in a Geico commercial.  If you all don't see those, the guy is a Neanderthal!  he did it so well a series is coming!

As a boy I "found" a very wonderful pond in the woods.  I tried to emulate it as much as I could.
Your caveman friend seemed to dump the rocks all over the place with little care as to esthetics.
A few of those rocks well placed at Kas's place mighr be the beast of both worlds!

Now where did I leave my rifle? @O@

Each pond seems to fit its' surroundings though, quite nicely. I am not a fan of 'the rock necklace' usually, but that Icelandic pond blends well.

Kaz's pond is so much nicer now that the teenager mows in straight stripes.

Both work for me.

Cheers,

Mike

Kristin,

That was hillarious!  I have always been fascinated by differences in people, and men in particular baffle me.  Engineers are another rare breed!

My seemingly clever pun, "The beast of both worlds" was a bloody typo, but how funny anyway.
I did mean to say "best."

Looking at them both, what I see that is separate from the rocks/no rocks thing is that Kaz has created an entire picture that is pleasing.  She blended the pond and all of the surroundings together.  The guy's pond is nice looking just at it, but there seems to be no thought to how it sits in the yard or to even cleaning up and clearing away stuff around it.

Kirsten, I would have known Kaz's pond in an instant, and yours too. Both of them are so beautiful with that natural edging! Personally, I love that look.
