Where should I put it?
« on: July 22, 2007, 08:14:21 PM »
I am in the digging stage of my new pond. I am connecting the skimmer and BD to the bio filter/falls. My question is where do I put the external pump? Before the bio filter ( won't junk have to go thru the pump then), or after..then the water will have return to the pond somehow...I am confused...(no room to put a SC...have to make do with skimmer and bio falls)

The you will have to chew up the stuff to microfine consistency and put it through the filter..or get a prefilter of SOME kind, be it SC or something else.  There is commercial stuff out there for $ that will do the trick.  SC are much less expensive since they can be DIY.  Even a 55 gallon drum with batting/netting or some kind of material that will trap gunk would be better than nothing.

Make sure both skimmer and BD line have ball valves on them to adjust the flow or the pump could pull more from one than the other.
