MY Water Hyacinth is Blooming!
« on: August 06, 2007, 02:15:11 PM »
They bloomed a lot this spring, but I haven't had any since.

But Saturday, there it was.

These are very crowded plants, in little 5 gallon tubs, in not-too-clean water, and the water level had fallen to just a few inches.

So, considering our previous thread about crowding hyacinths, it seems to work.

And they're going to get even more crowded, as I am going to clear out one of those tubs, to make room for the three new $1.75 water lilies I bought at Pet Smart!   ;D   Gee, I peeked before I bought, to be sure they're alive, and they already have teensy leaves!

Yellow, pink, and orange.

O0  I have noticed that I have gotten twice as many hyacinth blooms from the barrel filter plants where they are all squashed together.  I take out a wheelbarrow load of hyacinth from the pond every week...so lots and lots f vegetative growth, but I have only seen on bloom in the pond since spring.  I really liked the idea of hula-hooping them.

We don't normally get water hyacinth blooms but this year they have bloomed almost every day.
