Tub full of blue babies....(pics)

Just thought I would share some photos of the babies from this year.....so far they are looking really good....Parents are- my asagi pair and a showa female that breeds with my asagi male(thats where the showa and kohaku come from)....they are from a April spawn and most are about 3" long....

Awww they look so good.  You really have a nice bunch of babies there.

Ok, I've narrowed it down to the two I want.... lol  Wish I lived closer.  Guess I'll have to go shopping soon.

Wow, lots of babies. Funny thing, I have several Koi who are plenty old enough and large enough but do not breed. On one hand I'm dissappointed but on the other hand I'm glad.

here are the parents-asagi pair and showa female(both pics taken shortly after the spawn-thats why the water is foamy.... it usually takes me a good week to get the pond cleaned back up after a spawn)..with asagi you want them really light colored at this age.....because the blue will only darken and the orange will start to spread....so at this age you look for a really light, light blue with the orange barely visable in the pecs and stomach....cull out any that have orange above the lateral and that are dark blue in color....all of these babies were all just pulled from the parents pond and put in a 5,000 gallon above ground swimming pool to grow until next spring....

The koi in your last pic look beautiful.  I don't know styles of koi but I like that coloration, very clean look.  Very pretty  O0

thanks....the blue,white and orange pair are called asagi....My favorite variety also....from the first time I saw one in a picture I knew that I had to have at least one...I lucked out and got a pair.....
and the black, orange and white female is called a showa.....

I think I got myself a showa, a generic one.  Or is it a wakin/showa wanna be, or wakin/shubunkin wanna be...you'll have to check out my post on my unique baby and get a good laugh.

Jessica I have last years babies for sale this year...The ones in these pics are this years and won't go up for sale until next spring......Sure if you are any where near come on by...I live about 45 min. east of Tulsa....I'm just two blocks off of highway 69..... I have some asagi, a few showa left, tons of kohaku, some really pretty hi utsuri and a few shiro utsuri....Let me know if your coming by so I can get my oxygen tank filled.....I would be scared to chance a trip from here to Dallas with air only....If you pick them up here they are $20 each....when I start shipping they will be $25 each....

Wow, sounds like you're right on the way! How large are the ones for sale? I only have patio ponds and a smaller aquarium right now.

kohaku, I've never seen a pretty one of those around here either.  Might be because I don't go over to the High Dollar end of town.  Not all that many good places close to me, always have to drive 40 minutes or more away.

I'll be waiting in line when you start shipping.  :)

Jesicca since I didn't get them into the 5,000 gallon tank till October last year they are smaller than they should be...but, EVERYONE who has bought one has come back and said they started growing like weeds once they were put into the pond....these are any where from 3"-8" long...

Kim I know what you mean....Most of the ones I fall in love with are too expensive.....I truely lucked out when I got mine.....and they make beautiful babies.....the kohaku, showa, shiro, and hi utsuri come from my Showa female.....I was sooo surprised that she could throw so many colors....
