Braeden's surgery is done
« on: August 10, 2007, 02:44:09 PM »
I just got an email from one of my cousins who told me he meets with a bunch on Friday mornings for Bible study and they have been praying for Braeden all day. We can't begin to imagine how many people. like you guys, who have been lifting the little guy up to the Father during this time.

I just heard from Kevin about 4:30. The surgery didn't start until noon and part way through they had come out and said the hernia had been repaired and that odd calcified thingy was removed.  The rest was proceding well. Then all of a sudden around 4 they said they were done and thought they had "gotten it all". Evidently often that type of tumor is very involved and the surgeon has to make a choice to leave some of the tissue. They said that it wasn't the case for Braeden. PTL. Everything went very well and his counts remained where they needed to be throughout it all.

He still is facing more chemo, replacement of stem cells, and radiation if the treatment procedes the way they have projected.

With school starting soon, things may become more complicated. Eliana will be starting "outschool" for the first time. This may be a problem because Dawn had homeschooled her for kindergarten and first grade. So she is starting a new experience. She is a very social little girly girl so I don't think it will bother her one bit. It just may be a problem when Braeden is in the hospital getting her off to school. Ian is in Middle School so wouldn't be of any help.

Wow, good to hear the surgery went well. He's in my thoughts.
Mom of twins, knitting nut, and want to get back into water gardening.

Esther,
What a releif that the surgery is over, and all went well. Sounds like he has alot to get through yet, but one hurdle at a time.
He is a lucky little boy to be surrounded with so much love, and so many prayers.
A child's illness is so difficult on everyone involved. I can only imagine what you and your family are going through.
You remain in our prayers.
School complication will be figured out, as long as the big things are going good, all others will be worked out.
Well wishes and prayers for Braeden and his family.
