Gave the grandkids two thrills today
« on: August 09, 2007, 07:55:06 PM »

I remembered I had won this pool fountain about 5-6 years ago at work and dug it out. Ian helped me rig it up. They thought it was so cool to jump through it from the diving board. Tomorrow I'll try to get some pictures of the pool fun. It was cloudy and humid today so the picture didn't work very well.

Here's a night picture. The kids swam from 6:45 to 9:15. I made them finally come in because the mosquitoes were biting me.

And lastly they had homemade bread for the first time in their life.

Shoot, I'd like to dive off the diving board through that and cool down.  I bet they did have a ball.

I swear looking at the pic of your bread I can almost smell it, I know my mouth is watering.  8-)~
What did they think of it?  I bet they loved it.

Evidently they liked the bread because this morning they wanted it for breakfast. Said to skip cereal. LOL

The bank had a point system for  ::) good behavior, sales etc. We could spend the points in a catalogue that had high end stuff and some unique things. That was one of the things I used them for. It was through NBD so that had to have been maybe 8 or more years ago I got it. I just didn't use it much because the skimmer action won't work with it in the water and I'm afraid to have people swim with it in there because there is a tube that runs between the outlet on the end by the diving board and the fountain. I didn't want it to get broken. So will put it in when we have company that doesn't swim, you know, older people like me. LOL.

   lol     Right, Esther:  older people like you who make nonstop pvc projects, work in their ponds, take care of the grandchildren, cook and sew.  You're never too old to swim or EAT BREAD in my book!   {:-P;;

The pool in the back yard is a 16 X 32 and was here when I moved here 36 years ago. The sides were slanting in at the top about 4 inches in places. The water had green spongy stuff floating on the surface and the water was army green. At that point, I had never been in a pool in my life, let alone know anything about water clarity. Bit by bit I cleaned it out with a long handled skimmer net and then went to pool control classes. Eventually we had it redone and a  O0 yes, a bottom drain installed. Other than having a new liner put in several years ago, it isn't all that much work.

That is kinda why the ponds are in the front yard.

I have a pool too! It's a 12' x6' blow up. Don't laugh!!! Dh was never much of a swimmer and when we were at the lakes it was to fish.(even tho I'd end up in the lake sooner or later) So anyway he got me that to keep me happy. It does a great job of cooling me off, and to just sit in and relax. Haven't put it up tho since Iv'e had the pond. I just go in there now to cool off.

Well Jerry, I guess the smell is going to have to do. Even if you were here, you'd have to wait for me to make another batch. That one is gone. LOL

I love the pool with the fountain.  I bet you're running out of ideas to entertain the kids.

I'd rather have warm bread than cake any day.

I did manage to ship one of the grandkids off for two days. Today in church, they announced a trip to Cedar Point for the 7-12 graders. Ian is entering 7th this fall. So I asked him if he was interested in going. He knows noone so thought he'd hesitate. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Miss out on a trip to Cedar Point? HA!!! Now we just had to get OKs from his parents. They didn't mind at all either. So I spent a while packing snax, finding the headphones for the little pocket radio,  making a batch of cookies for everyone, and washing the sleeping bag that I discovered had mildewed. They will be staying overnight in the school of a Baptist church somewhere near Cedar Point in Ohio.
