Yellow GoldFish Turned BROWN!
« on: September 10, 2007, 09:31:54 AM »
I bought two 12¢ feeder goldfish to eat mosquitos in my tub lily garden.  They were both gold.

Now one of them is BROWN.

I can't get a good enough glimpse to see if he's solid or mottled, but this sure seems strange to me.  I thought goldfish STARTED out brown, and turned gold.  But this guy did the reverse.

I buy feeder fish for my turtles.  There are a few lucky survivors whom we have named.  One is named Sharky because of his black/gray coloring.  Well almost over night it has turned orange!  Now we can't get his name straight because we are used to seeing a black/gray GF for the past year or so!  :D

Maybe it's what they're eating??

I had a baby betta in that tub, and I haven't seen him in a coupla days.  I didn't think goldfish would eat a fish that big (3/4" or so) but... maybe...    If that one goldfish ate my betta, and if diet effects color, maybe that's why the change!

(I'd rather have the pretty blue betta than a brown goldfish!)
