Jerry...Thanks to you and your wife for your gracious hospitality in hosting the party...the food and company were great...thank you also for the beautiful "Persian Shield" plant...my wife was suspicious, however...when I told her I got a Persian Shield at the party, she said  "What's that, a new brand of condom ?"

lol lol

I had a great day at Jerry & Elaine's.  The temperature was in the mid 80s and we laughed about it being a "dry heat" after several weeks of having to endure uncharacteristic humidity.  Here are a few photos I took.  Sorry for the quality.  I hope Lynn's are much better.

Here's the entrance to Jerry's driveway...

Here's Jerry's welcoming committee of one beneath his kayak...

In a thread in the Terrestrial Garden Forum there was some discussion about Jade Plants.  Here is Jerry standing beside his 7'+ Jade plant.  This photo shows Jerry with hair on his arms and he also still has eyebrows.  He lost his eyebrows and the hair on his arms while BBQing..... lol ;)

Everything Jerry grows seems to be tall.  Here is some 6' tall "horses tail" next to his pond....

Here's Jerry's pond.  Notice the light colored object on the bottom?  The next photo is a close up of that object...

Here are the remains of some neighborhood kid who was a pest......  I'll let Jerry explain....

Jerry also had about 8 other non-ponding guests in addition to us ponders in this photo.  Starting at the top (1200) and going clockwise are the following:  MikeW is on the top.  I can't tell if I caught Mike with a mouth full of food or if that photo was taken when Jerry was playing with his "fart sound making device" which he placed near MikeW....  Sitting to the left of MikeW is BlindToo, another Mike.  Sitting to the left of MikeToo is Charla.  Sorry Charla for cutting you in half....  Sitting to the left of Charla with his back to the camera is Argos5 (Brian).  Sitting to the left of Brian is Frank, husband of Songbird (Lynn).  And last but certainly not least is Songbird (Lynn).

Here are some more photos of the group...

I too made off with a few plants from Jerry's greenhouse.....Manihot and and purple charlie

Nice photos!  Bobby is a stray cat that hangs out here a funny one. He seems to alway be where i squirt the hose, or worse!

The non ponders were Francesca the tee shirt model and Tom her hubby. My daughter and cousins from Phoenix who surprized us all. I chatted for 10 seconds with cousin Larry before i realized who he was.  Seeing them was so out of context.  His wife hugged me and I had no idea who it was!
Missed the fetching one!

Reading this and getting legt over guacamole all over the keyboard.

Jerry's garden and pond were in tip top shape. We were joking how it a;ways seems, the night before a big garden event, one is trashed by raccoons.

Good time had.

Cheers,

Mike

It looks like everyone had a wonderful time and the weather co-operated.

Great pictures.

Jerry, What do you have your Staghorn fern planted in?  I just noted it hanging over the side of your basket.

Sandyd  the staghorn was once much bigger.  The former basket fell apart!
This one is lined with coco matting.  I bet filter matting would work well too!

I saw one at the Huntington Gardens hanging from an ancient oak.  I would say it would take 2 strong men to lift it.  Spectaular!
I will take apicture next time!
You are keen eyed!

Jerry,

I have a Staghorn that I attached to a small piece of driftwood.  I was looking for options to put it somewhere or even in partial planting media like for orchids.  I live in Iowa and have to bring it in every winter.  I don't have a green house yet to put it in and it gets pretty thirsty and weak looking by springtime.  I may just have to mist it more.

Thanks
Sandy
