Dividing Aussie lilies
« on: October 23, 2007, 12:00:09 PM »
Does anyone here have any advice on when to divide Nymphaea gigantea "Albert de Lestang"? I live in Phoenix, AZ and a warm winter is being predicted. This will be the lily's third winter here, and last year was very cold.

I've divided other Tropicals but have usually done it in the spring when growth was just starting up again.

Help, I need advice as I really, really, want to be able to keep Albert alive, but I'd also like to have it multiply if possible.

Well, I did it today. Keep your fingers crossed for the offspring. :)

Do you have photos of your Aussie Lily?  I've never seen one.  Is the root different from tropicals?  Good luck with your division.

As far as I can tell the root is similar.

I love this lily. It looks very much like a lotus which don't do well in our dry heat.

This one is white with pale blue shading that fades as the flower ages. I really like the way the stamens are.

Very Nice.  It does look like a lotus.  I've tried 2 kinds of lotus with no luck.

Thanks for your photo!
