Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Bonnie, what a Great Surprise! Last year Bonnie gave me red stem parrot's feather (Free too

). She also sent to me a collection of other water plants from her pond too: Asian water grass, King Tut papyrus, violet stem taro, and Imperial taro.

When I received the package there were soooo many plants and I was not prepared to pot everything up. So I put most of the stronger plants in with other plants in my pond and other water pots. I didn't recognize a couple of the cuttings Bonnie sent to me but I just assumed what they were.

Well surprise, surprise, surprise when I found this plant Bonnie sent to me in a pot with "a like plant" ready to bloom! What I thought was a papyrus turned out to be a beautiful "Water Iris." I love this color! I took a photo first thing in the morning when it popped open and another in the afternoon as the iris stretched out in full regalia.

Give me a name!!! Thank you for this wonderful surprise, Bonnie!!!!

Beautiful! Didn't know there was another color I could have in the pond. I have yellow and purple iris. But not this one.

I never thought of any color to add to my pond but this iris is a very nice color. I can't think of what color this is but it is almost a dusty rose. Bonnie are you out there?

Three more iris blooms.

Unfortunately this weekend was extremely HOT and many blooms in my garden lasted a very short time and literally dried up crispy.

Especially when you say it was in a pot already, are you sure this came from ME??

The only Iris that I have that isn't Purple or Yellow is Handmaiden.....

Bonnie, it was just a rhizome (at least I think that's what it's called) when I received it. Like a long root. I thought it was a papyrus thingy or something and just tossed it into a water container of an Umbrella plant. Forgot about it until a few weeks ago when I saw the new leaves and a flower bud. But it came from you!

Wow, that is a pretty color.

There are other colors of water iris. Go to Ebay and do a search for Louisiana iris and you'll see other varieties.

Thanks for the name Shanna! I checked here: http://www.zydecoirises.com/Flower%20Pages/Andouille.htm I think the closest one like mine is named Andouille. I've learned plenty from this site for Louisiana Iris.

Annette sorry I can't help you out.. just for the heck of it though Google that one and go to images and see how many different shades of the color that you will find!
(don't know if it will hold true on that particular one)
