We had them bad last year in North Texas. Haven't seen any signs of them this year.

There are localized pockets of them around here.
When I visit my friend John in Manorville who owns River Road Koi (LIjohn from Koiphen)
there is a very bad section of the old Grumman Air Base that is infested with Tent Caterpillars.
I think the infestations have a lot to do with native host trees. (8:-)

When I read the title all I saw was "webworm" In Texas we probably have this web worm as opposed to the eastern tent catarpillar variety.

Yes you do Don, these are different even though many here call them 'webworms'.

One of the trees on the side of our property is loaded with them, luckily all of my 'good' trees aren't as bad as that one.

We saw them for the first time about 5 or 6 years ago during a visit to N. Carolina.  We kept seeing them in the trees as we drove down the highway and we were intrigued by them.  I thought they were some kind of monster spider web.... ::)  :o    We finally described them to a local and learned what they were.

Mikey they really give me the creeps when they are just tiny little 'worms' moving around inside the web/tent/pocket!
