I LOVE baby birds, especially robins.  They look like muppets with that funny hair o(:-)  Then when they get their feathers, they have tufts on the sides of their heads...I raised a whole nest of them once when I was a little girl.  Never had any success with baby birds as an adult... :o

Oh so cute.

When I was a kid, between when the storm windows were taken down and the screens put up, there was a momma robin who built a nest on the second story window sill for several years in a row. I would sit down on the floor down the wall and ooch (is that a word) slowly over to the window. I'd sit there for the longest time and watch them. Loved it. Momma would tip her head this way and that like she suspected I wasn't supposed to be there but because I held so still she learned that I was OK.

Three babies now, I was worried about them last night because it was supposed to get almost to freezing temps but luckily it didn't get quite as cold.  (I think 36 degrees)

I thought about putting a sheet around the shrub but didn't know if that would freak Momma out or keep her away.

Luckily between the 3 of them and Momma, all stayed safe and warm! :)

LuAnn did the Momma leave the nest before or after they were hatched?

Esther, love your story..

Bonnie,Great pictures ! Please keep us posted as they grow up with pictures. I have a ladder hanging on the side of my shed and I see the other day a robin is trying to build a on top of it. Guess i will not have to do any work with the ladder until after the birds are gone. @O@

It's amazing how fast these little guys grow!
Momma was doing a good job protecting them from the rain..

No wonder little birds eat so much, takes a lot of energy to grow that fast!  Your pictures are amazing Bonnie.  emm

Those pictures are so precious. It looks like the only time their moths are closed is when they're sleeping. LOL

Unfortunately our Kitty, Phoebe found the nest yesterday.. knocked it on the ground and one of the babies was killed from Phoebe thinking it was a play toy! :(

DH put the nest back along with the other two babies and luckily they are doing well.

I did give Phoebe a scolding but I can't blame her for her instinct.  She WILL stay indoors until the babies have flown away though.

Oh no Bonnie!  Bad kitty...but it's what they do.  The mother robin in my story must have flown away...the babies were just skin and they were scattered about under a tree.  My parents rescued them and I raised them to be adults.  They would sit on my shoulders while I walked around the yard.  They would run to me when they would see me coming when they were old enough to be outside.

Your pictures are stunning!
