That's why I went to artschool, majored in General Illustration at FIT in NYC.
I like that style, but in my humble opinion, if you are going for a look, go ALL the way, not half way.
Don't be timid, don't play it safe.

Maybe once I get all moved in, I'll unearth my old painting kit (saw it during the move) and rekindle my love of painting.
I am deathly allergic to oil painting, specifically the paint thinners and the oily fumes,
so I use Gouaches and occasionally acrylics.
I also LOVE colored pencil and watercolor w/pen and ink, and sometimes combine ALL of the above. (must be water based)
I also have learned to dab on a few metallic accents when all is said and done.
