Kitten vs. Pond
« on: June 16, 2008, 04:10:22 PM »
My old cat died of renal failure a week or two ago, and, sooner than I expected, I happened to come home with a new cat.  Or, rather, a kitten.

This little gal is really cute, and playful, and sooo demanding.  I find I'm spending more time with her than the pond.  Gone are the days of running outside just to look at the pond, 'cause I don't want the kitty to be all alone.

Gee, how does one split time between her two loves??

I am sorry for the loss of your old kitty.  I have a few old timers myself.  Josh is our kidney patient...he's 18..19?  He's old....I love my old man cat dearly.   But yeah...kittens are good for the soul.  Congratulations on the new baby!  Give her some hugs and purrs for me o(:-)

What a nice surprise!  The Universe is looking out for you!  Sorry about your old baby.

You should see my house, I have 6 kitties of my own, the oldest is 14!  I also do rescue work and have 9 foster kitties ages 7 week to 6 months!  It's a house full but I love 'em all!

It's a dangerous job but someones gotta do it! :D

You could leash train your kitten.  I raise Bengals and have two boys I have trained.  Start at about four months, harness only at first.  My two guys learned very fast and look forward to the trips to the pond to stock the fish and anything that moves.

Really attractive cats, Builder.

As a matter of happenstance, Fortune went to go get her first shots yesterday, and everyone is telling me two cats help take care of one another, and teach each other how to be social, etc., and it just so happened that a man had rescued 5 kittens from under a house and then dumped them at the vet, and so I went "just to take a look" - and ended up adopting a little boy!

He's too young to come home yet - 2-3 more weeks and he's mine!

Lots of first times for me:

-multiple cats
-male cat
-tabby cat (don't like tabbies - too ordinary)  But this little guy is half white and half grey tabby, with a "ring" of white around his butt.  Cute!

I agree that two cats are happier than one alone, especially when raised together as  kittens.  That is so wonderful of you, taking these guys in!  Ooohh!  We need to see some kitten photos o(:-)
