Unknown Night bloomer from Kat
« on: July 02, 2008, 10:08:33 AM »
Kat,
The night bloomer you sold me seems very happy in its new home!  It usually has two blooms going at once.

I like it.  Especially all the pads it is sending.

BTW, I probably should clarify that it is an unknown rather than unnamed.  Bought it from a local guy about 10 years ago & he called it Sturtevantii.  Some other lily collectors informed me many years ago that it doesn't look like Sturtevantii.  So, maybe someone else will speak up & show their Sturtevantii photos as Victoria Adventure doesn't show a picture in color to compare.  The bloom does stay mostly cup shaped by the time I see it (either evening or early morning).  I never think to go outside at night to see if it opens up more.

Have fun with it as it is an excellent grower & bloomer.  I interestingly enough, it stays rather compact compared to other nightbloomers that I've grown.

Kat,
Thanks for clearing up my terminology.  Unknown certainly makes more sense than Unnamed.   Learn something new everyday!

Definitely not Sturtevantii.
Sturtevantii is described as having bronzy green to apple green in color pads.
Those look mahogany... more like a Red Cup, but don't call it that.
I was only making color comparison to another night bloomer of similiar characteristics.

Either way it looks big and happy.
