Couple questions
« on: July 20, 2008, 06:07:14 PM »
Do anchor worms looks wormish or are they more mucusy ... like a piece of white mucus?

Also, can water lilies grow & be ok in a little more than foot of water? .... I want to move them to my shelf & out of the center deep (a little more than 2 feet) part of my pond.

I think they may have been mating & scraped some slime coat.

Thanks.

ANchor worms, when they are large enough to see, look like clear straws. They do not float free, like tendrils of slime. They are anchored into the fish.

Water lilies can grow at depths. Depends on the type.
Most of my lilies are 18 inches or so.
But the "Magnum" Linsey Woods is in 48 inches of water. Not intentionally. I had her up on blocks, but she fell off.
She's the most successful single lily I have. HUGE blooms. :)

Thanks.

Wasn't anchor worms then .... thinking they got scraped mating.

The lilies are hardies from Lowes & maybe wal-mart .... can't remember.

Sorry don't know about worms.

I had my lilies, trop and hardy, growing in a kiddie pool (10" deep) for 2 years.  Two weeks ago I put them in my new 36" deep lily pond.  I purposely filled the water to only 30" first and the pads reached the surface of the water within the week.  I filled another 6" inches today and everything is growing way better than when they were in the kiddie pools.  Love the larger pads!  O0

Anchor worms almost look like a tiny blade of grass. My fish had them sticking out of the base of thier dorsal fins and out the sides of a few fins. they can look green because algae grows on them.
