I helped a local ponder today
« on: July 09, 2008, 06:56:07 PM »
I was looking thru Craigslist and saw where someone needed pond plants.  They had moved and left they're plants behind and was starting over.  I hooked them up nicely and invited them to come here.  They were really nice people.  Their trunk was running over with plants.

I really didn't realize how overgrown the front puddle had become until we started pulling up plants.  All the roots had jumped pots and were intangled with one another.  I also found my mini lilies in there.  I thought they were gone...LOL.

Good for you, I like to do the same thing as I have gotten so much from others I feel if I in turn do it it is payment to those who helped me also.......if that makes any sense.

Did you tell them about A.P. ?  Bet they'd enjoy talking with us, and I sure would like to see pics of their pond as it develops.

I'm glad they were gracious.
I have offered plants locally and always ended up with PITA people. ::) I've stopped doing it.
Two years ago I offered extra floaters to people for free.
Didn't have but just a couple of takers and what ticked me off
is once they got there they wanted other plants that I couldnt give
them or split off. One woman got so pissed off at me because I wouldn't just
give her a lily that was blooming that she wanted. ::)

It made me feel good to do this, and they were very happy with the plants.

Yes, I invited them to come here.  They were both really nice people.

I've offered plants to people but they have never accepted as they didn't want to travel the distance to pick them up or expected me to deliver them for free. I've only delivered plants to one person and her family are not getting by to well. I tried to email her some links this week and the email got rejected which means they haven't paid their internet bill. As my payback for that deed, my wife and I went to give this nice couple some advice on what to do to correct their pond problems and in return, we got some banana trees and some white blooming tropical water lilies. Pics later. All were blooming.

Happy ponding,
Scott

So... I'm the craigslist girl   ;)  We received some wonderful plants from Kim and had great company while we were there. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening and we have had a lot of fun getting our new plants placed into their home. She is a very generous lady! And wowee those ponds
Looking forward to getting to know everyone here better.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I took a few pictures earlier this evening, I will try to get them loaded on the computer so I can post some tomorrow. They are not nearly as extravagant as some of the ones I have seen on here though. Yeah, I cant imagine life without the internet. I guess I will fit right in then... I tend to be crazy at times too   @O@

How nice of you to share Kim  @O@

I was walking across the WM parking lot yesterday with a Black Magic Tara in my basket.  A lady walked up behind me and asked what kind of plant it was and what was I gonna do with it.  I told her I was gonna set it in my pond.  She said she had a preform from WM...no fish, 2 lilies that hadn't bloomed.  I asked if she had just dropped them in in the bag, she said yes.  I told her to pot them up and fertilize them.  I also offered her some goldies.

I saw her again at the grocery store...she asked more questions.  I wished she would have asked for my phone numeber.
