Lorraine sweety--when you buy a water hibiscus---it is just a hardy hibiscus grown in water--and they double the price
...you can grow ANY hardy hibscus in the pond-which most gardening stores carry hardy hibiscus...I do have some hibiscus for sale if you can't find any locally--a few texas star and some blue river(all white)...see my website at

Lots of regular plants can grow both in the water or in soil......they just change the name and double the price
...Any canna can also be grown in the water....

Hmmm I didn't know that either. I was just thinking where I should relocate my hardy hibiscus because DH is getting ready to dig the new pond. I'm going to pot it up and put in as a marginal to see how it works. Thanks for the info, Lawanna.
Sorry to hijack your post Lorraine.

Lawanna, are they hardy enough to stay in the pond in the winter? Or do we need to bring them in each fall? Thanks!

I leave mine out all year...they die down to the root and I cut off all the old growth in the spring--new growth comes up.....
