My monitor went out (bought a new one)
« on: July 20, 2008, 06:36:35 PM »
and I'm on a really old one.  I feel like I need glasses now.  Wow, how different it is, but it beats not having one at all.  I'll have to price some new ones, or a new computer.  My computer isn't very old though and I haven't had any problems until the monitor.  Hmmmm.

Literally just "been there done that". Lived without one at home for three weeks while I researched the best deal. Eventually got so frustrated pulled off the freeway at any electronics type store to get one. Flat panel,19", HP, $240. I was really wanting just a 15"one - fits my desk better - but it is a challenge to get them this small these days.

Cheers,

Mike

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

We just went through the same thing as well. Went to Best Buy and got the cheapest. Turns out it's pretty good (Envision 19" flat screen, less than 200.00). Liked it so much that we bought another one (same size, Westinghouse, less than 200.00) for the second PC.
Pitched the old giant monitors at our local town recycle program.

The only thing is that now I feel much more eye-strain. Big screen, too close, too high = eye strain. Can't go more than 20 minutes at a time.

Well I bought a new monitor tonight.  Ended up with a 19 inch LCD.  Wow, what a difference.  Its only 2 inches bigger than I had, but its wide screen.  Pull up a pond pic now, its like looking at the pond.  I swear, I feel like I could touch the water.  I'm still happy with my pc.  My next pc experience will be a laptop.

I was having trouble with mine for the past month so had to have it repaired.  LUCKILY it was still under warranty!

I dropped it off at Best Buy almost two weeks ago so it should be ready to be picked up anytime now, Hopefully.

For the time being I am on DH's computer (my OLD computer) so that means slower than slow internet speed and an old monitor.

I got the Samsung 19" Flat Screen from Best Buy when they had it for right around $200 which I love! (when it works)

This one was on sale for 169.99, reg 199.99.  Best price I found.  Going to take some getting use to.  But I think if I give it a couple days, I'll be in love with it.
