Hmm quite right Kat, it's Mankala Ubol, with an A, I see after a quick squiz at the WGI.
Im still puzzled at how well these hardies do in Thailand. I visited the international water-lily collection there and was blown over by the hardies in particular that they have growing in the large "moat". Flowers big as soccer balls on huge plants.
I saw this one it just looked other worldly, stunning. Obviously the distinction hardy and tropical has been lost, at least in warm climates. Bearing in mind that Thailand is more or less hot all year round hovering in the mid ninties, with "cooler" nights in the mid seventies in the "winter".
Think I might try this one myself here in HK.
